Reward up to $10,000

 

MAIL THEFTS AT
SOUTHEASTERN OREGON POST OFFICES

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for a rash of mail thefts in Southeastern Oregon at the Beatty, Bly, and New Pine Creek Post Offices. The incidents occurred Saturday evening, June 4, through the evening of June 6, 2011, when someone broke into blue collection boxes located in front of the Post Offices and stole outgoing mail.

Customers who deposited mail at these Post Offices between the hours of 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, and the evening of Monday, June 6, are encouraged to submit a Mail Theft and Vandalism Complaint report at their local Post Office, online at postalinspectors.uspis.gov or by calling 1-877-876-2455, option 3.

Theft of mail is a federal crime. Offenders may be imprisoned up to five years and fined up to $250,000.
