UNITED STATES POSTAL INSPECTION SERVICE
POSTAL INSPECTORS ARREST SIX FOR SCHEME TO
Postal Inspectors arrested Dontay Blackwood (aka "Lucky"), Kareef Auguste, Timothy Primo, Dora Etheart, Keywana Graham, and Keisha Narcisse for conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft.
From 2012 the six defendants allegedly defrauded banking institutions and their customers by stealing banking information and using it to create counterfeit financial instruments.
Moreover, after depositing counterfeit checks, the defendants allegedly used debit cards funded by the accounts to purchase postal money orders. The money orders were either cashed or deposited into the defendants' personal accounts or accounts of other co-conspirators.
"Postal Inspectors will vigorously pursue and bring to justice anyone who uses the Postal Service in the furtherance of their illegal schemes," said Inspector in Charge Philip R. Bartlett.
If found guilty, these individuals could be fined up to $1 million or imprisoned up to 30 years, or both.
The case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
