A Wellington man has pleaded guilty to charges of making and possessing child pornography material following a joint investigation conducted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the New Zealand Police Department.
Graham Young, posing as "John Emsey," began communicating online with a 13-year-old minor in 2011. He mailed a package from New Zealand containing sexual items to the victim's home in Manhattan, NY. Although Mr. Emsey was told the recipient was a minor, he continued email conversations of a sexual nature with the 13-year-old. He also solicited sexually explicit photos and requested that the victim send him personal items through the mail.
Mr. Young was arrested In July 2012 and pled guilty in July 2013. His sentencing is scheduled for August 12, 2013, before Judge Barry of the Wellington Court.
Inspector in Charge Philip R. Bartlett stated, "This case highlights the fact that no matter where you are or what Internet identity you hide behind, Postal Inspectors with their global counterparts will find you and bring you to justice for the sexual exploitation of a minor. We would like to thank our international partners for their tireless dedication and efforts in bringing Mr. Young to justice."
The Postal Inspection Service also partners with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to investigate child sexual exploitation involving the U.S. Mail.
