Postal Inspectors Offer Up to $10,000 Reward for
Information on Southeastern Oregon Mail Thefts

Postal Inspectors are reporting a rash of mail thefts at small Post Offices in Southeastern Oregon. The thefts reportedly occurred the evening of Saturday, June 4, and as recently as the evening of June 6, 2011.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for stealing mail from the blue collection boxes, which are located in front of the Beatty, Bly, and New Pine Creek, OR, Post Offices.

Customers who deposited mail at these Post Offices between the hours of 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, through the evening of Monday, June 6, are encouraged to submit a Mail Theft and Vandalism Complaint report at their local Post Office, online at or by calling 1-877-876-2455, option 3.

If you have any information regarding the thefts, please call U.S. Postal Inspectors at one of the numbers listed above.

Theft of mail is a federal crime. Offenders may be imprisoned up to five years and fined up to $250,000.
